University of Oxford, Department for Continuing Education

Oxford University is just under 800 years old. It is not a campus university, but is made up of 39 colleges, which have been founded, built, and extended at different times from the 13th century to the present day. Students on full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses have to be accepted both by the university and by a college. The university provides centrally run teaching (typically this will be in the form of lectures) through its departments, and the colleges provide tutorial teaching and accommodation.

University of Essex

The University of Essex is one of the UK's leading academic institutions and was rated seventh nationally for teaching quality and tenth for research standards.

The Higher Education Council for England (HEFCE) assesses every university department for their academic research, with ratings on a scale of 1 to the highest mark of 5*. The School of Humanities is committed to the provision of cutting edge research and teaching in all its disciplines and fostering the development of interdisciplinary work in the University and beyond.
