Newcastle College is the largest Further and Higher Education College in the UK and was considered the best performing in the UK government’s April 2004 OFSTED report. With 44,000 students, including 6,000 full-time, the College has invested millions of pounds in the last few years to expand and improve its facilities.
Students from throughout the UK and from 40 different countries across the globe can now take advantage of the £21 million Music and Performing Arts Centre and the new Higher Education centre ‘Space’ which is a hub of activity as the focus of social activities and events. The £16 million Lifestyle Academy is due to open this month.
The three campuses, three libraries, language laboratory and IT workshop along with seminar rooms, classrooms and lecture theatres allow you to pursue your studies in classes and groups of appropriate sizes. And there is plenty of opportunity to wind down after lectures with a range of recreational activities and entertainment on offer at the concert and music hall, sports centre, and coffee bars.
The course options and facilities are many and varied. You can focus on areas such as graphic design, travel and tourism, business management, art and design, or music and dance. Alternatively you can study at the college’s award-winning ESOL (English) School. Winner of the prestigious Beacon Award for Excellence, the ESOL School offers international students the opportunity to take Cambridge exams, pre-sessional (degree and masters preparation), and summer schools.
Strong links to Northumbria University, University of Newcastle and the University of Sunderland mean that many Newcastle College students go on to complete degree courses at these universities. Studies in English (EFL), International Foundation Programmes, A Levels and any of the 30 two-year foundation degree programmes can lead to a full Bachelor Degree with a university top-up year.
With its range of quality courses and an environment which encourages social interaction and recreational activities, Newcastle College offers a good balance to all students. Its world-class facilities and support services mean that Newcastle College is a place were students —both UK and International — can feel comfortable and achieve their goals while enjoying campus life.
