La Trobe University: where staff, setting and support make the
Ranked as one of the Top 100 universities in the world*, La Trobe
University offers students the opportunity to study an internationally
recognised course in Melbourne or the stunning natural environment of
regional Australia. A multi-campus university, La Trobe has three
campuses in Victoria which offer a wide range of courses and research
programs to international students: Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo and
Albury-Wodonga.
La Trobe has a strong commitment to internationalisation and welcomes
students from around the world. There are currently more than 26,500
students, including around 3,000 international students from over 60
countries.
The University is renowned for its teaching, research and quality
programs. It has over 30 research centres, links with more than 260
universities around the world and is a member of the Innovative Research
Universities, Australia - an alliance of research-based institutions with
comprehensive disciplinary coverage and a strong commitment to innovation.
La Trobe's excellent staff to student ratio ensures a supportive study
experience and that students receive a more individualised guidance to
achieve their academic goals. We also pride ourselves on the quality of
our international student support services including academic and
English language skills support, pre-departure information, free airport
pick-up and a unique Welcome Festival (orientation) program.
The University's academic staff have high public profiles, receive regular
awards for their research and have had continued success in obtaining
competitive research funding. The humanities and social
sciences staff, in particular, are renowned for the prominent role they
play in Australian intellectual life. No University has more regularly
filled the Harvard Chair of Australian Studies nor is there a university
in Australia whose members have assumed as prominent a part in the
national political debate. A recent cultural contribution of academic
staff in the humanities is their
involvement in Reflected Light - La Trobe Essays - an anthology offering
reflections, evocations, commentary, criticism and humour. It is the
quality of the humanities academics that has assisted in the
faculty being ranked one of the top 25 humanities faculties in the world*.
La Trobe is also renowned world-wide for its leading contributions in the
areas of business, management, law, science, technology and
engineering, education and the health sciences. The University invites
students to enquire now and find out more information on the wide
variety of courses available.
