3. Submit your application

OK, so by now you will have chosen your course and are happy with the course fees. Now click on the Apply Now button to start your official application, live online. And don’t worry about attaching documents; we’ll do that for you later.

When you submit your application it goes to your personal counsellor for checking. We’ll contact you within 24 hours to help you complete the application and review your documents. Only when you and your counsellor are happy with your application is it sent to the institution.

Tip: You can save your application and return to it at anytime. Just click on the Save button anytime. Next time you sign in, you’ll find your applications in your MyStudyLink area — ready for you to complete and submit.

Congratulations to StudyLink student Vivek Chhabra for winning Newcastle University scholarships

We would like to congratulate Vivek on receiving an international undergraduate merit scholarship worth 1500 GBP. Vivek also received a 500 GBP school scholarship from the department based on his outstanding secondary school results. Vivek applied to the UK’s Newcastle University with the assistance of StudyLink’s India office and participated in one of StudyLink’s online chat events with representatives from Newcastle University, other students, and StudyLink staff. He started his studies at Newcastle University in September 2006 and is studying a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.

Don’t miss out on your course of choice: Important deadlines for your application

Australia - Apply now to start in July/August 2007. You should submit your application and supporting documents by mid-April. We encourage you to apply early for best consideration. Keep in mind that you do not need to scan and attach your documents, a counsellor can do this for you. Contact a counsellor for assistance with selecting a course or completing your applications.

If you have successfully applied to start studies in February/March 2007, you should be finalising your visa application, accepting your offer, and planning for your departure. Specific procedures will depend on your citizenship and the course you will be studying. Contact a counsellor for more details.

US – The main term starts in September 2007 for most institutions. English language schools and some other institutions allow students to start throughout the year. Application deadlines vary and we encourage you to apply well in advance for best consideration and to allow time to apply for a visa. Keep in mind that you do not need to scan and attach your documents, a counsellor can do this for you. Contact a counsellor for assistance with selecting a course or completing your applications.

UK – Apply now to start in September 2007. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible for best consideration. Applications should be submitted to StudyLink by the end of June. Monterey Institute - a top school for entrepreneurs (USA)

The Fisher Graduate School of International Business of the Monterey Institute of International Studies was recently ranked eighth among the USA’s MBA programs for entrepreneurship.

The survey of over 700 schools, released by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine, offers potential entrepreneurship students with a credible resource for locating the top educational providers in this field.

Criteria for evaluating the surveyed schools included entrepreneurial emphasis of the business curriculum, mentoring, experiential learning, faculty credentials, and the success of graduating students and alumni. High-ranking schools demonstrated a commitment to practical, hands-on experiential learning to provide the skills that translate into real-world businesses.

Dean of the Fisher Graduate School of International Business Dr Ernest J. Scalberg said the school’s MBA program was distinctive as all graduates were able to apply the entrepreneurial way of thinking to international business opportunities.

“All MBAs are required to do an international business plan in cross cultural student teams for a real company, and to understand the rigours of the differences in starting and financing a business across borders,” Dr Scalberg said.

Monterey Institute’s Business School has also been ranked as one of the top MBA programs in the world by the Financial Times for its unique international educational environment and for the cross border career mobility of its graduates. The Institute also offers graduate degrees in translation and interpretation, international policy studies and language teaching. The Institute is located in Monterey California and has approximately 780 students from nearly 60 countries.

Ballarat's learning and teaching excellence recognised (Australia)

The University of Ballarat (UB) has recently been awarded Australian government funding in recognition of its performance in the university rankings table.

The university, which was awarded $1.63 million from the Australian Government’s 2007 Learning and Teaching Performance Fund, was placed fourth out of 38 universities nationally in the discipline of Health, and was in the top third in the disciplines of Humanities, Arts and Education.

The university was also one of only 13 universities to be recognised for learning and teaching excellence in more than one discipline area. Along with the University of Wollongong, Ballarat was the only regional university to be recognised in two or more categories.

Vice-Chancellor Professor David Battersby said the university would use the new funding to support current programs and to foster further initiatives in the area of learning and teaching.

“This funding follows similar recognition last year and reinforces UB’s extremely high standing nationally and regionally,” Professor Battersby said.

“The funding also complements Ballarat’s excellent performances in this year’s Good Universities Guide, where we achieved a series of four-star ratings, achieving recognition as the best regional university in Victoria.”

Anglia Ruskin: a leader in English studies (UK)

Anglia Ruskin is a university that considers itself a rising star in the university league table. Not surprising given its English course was ranked third in the UK in the 2006 Guardian Education Guide.

The university also ranks well from a student perspective. In Anglia Ruskin’s own annual Student Satisfaction Survey, all students indicated their high level of satisfaction with the extent to which their course developed their subject knowledge and communication skills. Chinese and other Asian students in particular indicated their satisfaction with the way their course developed their problem-solving skills and prepared them for employment.

Preparation for employment is something Anglia Ruskin takes seriously with over 90 per cent of its graduates being placed in a job or advanced study within six months of leaving the university.

With campuses in both Cambridge and Chelmsford, Anglia Ruskin offers undergraduate and professional courses through to postgraduate and research degrees in the following faculties: business and management; science and technology; arts, law and social sciences; education; and health and social care. The university is also a major centre for the teaching of English language including courses for teachers of English, and foundation and preparatory courses.

As an international student at Anglia Ruskin, you’ll be in good company with international students representing over 20 per cent of the university’s 15 000 full-time students. The university has a free careers service to assist you in planning your future career and a free employment bureau to help you find regular employment either on campus or in town.

The university’s student union provides cafes, bars and shops on campus; organises on-campus entertainment; allows for a wide range of clubs and societies; and arranges for member discounts at off-campus venues such as bowling alleys and cinemas.

Both of Anglia Ruskin’s campuses are centrally located, close to shopping and leisure facilities, where it’s easy and safe to live and travel around. Both Cambridge and Chelmsford are within one hour's travel time from central London and London Stansted International Airport, and within two hours’ travel time of London Heathrow and London Gatwick International Airports.
