Boasting a five star rating from the Good Universities Guide 2004, the University of Tasmania (UTAS) is among Australia’s top ten universities in terms of receipt of Australian Research Council Grants.

Isabel Yanjun Wang, a former Master of Education student from China, said the UTAS developed her ability to teach and conduct research related to tertiary education.

“I found independent learning and critical and analytic thinking to be the highlights of my studies,” Isabel said.

UTAS Chemistry graduate David Schaller said Tasmania gave him the chance to rock climb and enjoy bushwalking in remote areas, and to sailboard and surf on deserted beaches.

“I can happily say that I do not intend returning to Germany in the near future,” David said. “Everyone from Germany that I’ve met in Tasmania has had a ball and often prolonged their stay way past their expected departure dates."

The university’s main campuses are in Hobart and Launceston where the cost of living compares favourably against many other study destinations. In both cities most students are able to live within walking distance of the university. The university itself also provides value for money as your tuition fees are frozen at their starting levels for the duration of your course.
