Australia: Bond launches new Resort Management School
Bond University will open a new School of Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management in January 2009. Undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs will be offered, in partnership with Marriott International.
“Hospitality and tourism is now the world’s largest industry, employing one in every nine people worldwide and generating around four trillion dollars annually,” says Head of School, Professor Elizabeth Roberts. “Business at this scale requires managers with highly advanced analytical and management skills.”
The new School will address the shortage of qualified managers in Australia and overseas. The unique program will focus on specific areas that can give graduates an edge, such as revenue management.
The partnership with global hotel and resort operator Marriott International means you can do work placements during your study, as well as access practical industry knowledge. You can also take elective subjects in other schools within the Faculty of Business, Technology and Sustainable Development.
For example, by taking elective classes in sustainable development, you can learn more about ways to reduce the environmental impact of tourism. This is becoming increasingly important. Gold Coast theme parks close to the university, such as Dreamworld, and Wet and Wild, have been working extensively on water conservation.
Bond University is Australia’s leading private university, located near the sandy beaches of the Gold Coast in Queensland. It’s just one hour south of Brisbane. With three semesters per year, you can fast-track your bachelor degree studies and finish in two years (subject to your performance of course).
