The ultimate Australian experience at Bond: learn more about the amazing range of social activities and trips available to Bond University students.
A year-round summer of fun at Bond University
For the ultimate Australian experience, and a great education, Bond University has it all. Located on Australia’s favourite holiday destination, the Gold Coast, you can enjoy 35kms of uncrowded sandy beaches, beautiful rivers and canal waterways, as well as a diverse range of fun – and educational – attractions.
The city of the Gold Coast, in Southern Queensland, is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia. The Bond University campus is just 5 minutes drive from the beach, 10 minutes from one of Australia’s largest shopping centres, and 15 minutes from Surfers Paradise for great nightlife. There are good public transport links from campus, as well as plenty of parking available.
To make sure you get the most from your Bond University experience, there is a dedicated Recreational Program and Campus Life co-ordinator. Nicole Solomon organises social trips and activities for students on and off-campus, including:
- Action-packed theme parks – Dreamworld (www.dreamworld.com.au), Sea World (www.seaworld.com.au) and Movie World (www.movieworld.com.au)
- Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (www.currumbin-sanctuary.org.au) - home to the world’s largest collection of Australian native animals
- Gold Coast beaches – for surfing lessons, beach volleyball or just relax
- National Parks – World Heritage-listed rainforests, waterfalls, mountain swimming pools, wildlife in its natural habitat, extensive walking trails
- Local cultural attractions, including Aboriginal culture centres and arts centres
- Adventure experiences – visit a typical Australian farm, go whale watching (June to November), winery or brewery tour, boat cruise along the Coomera or Nerang River.
‘Bond Breaks’, longer trips away, can also take you to some of Australia’s most amazing sights during the holiday period – including the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, Uluru and the Outback experience.
These group activities are a great way to experience Australia, and make life-long friendships with other students from all over the world. And if you need to arrange your own travel options, the Student Flights office is also conveniently located on campus.
Nicole prides herself on helping you enjoy a ‘true authentic Aussie experience’ during your time at Bond. To find our more about the Bond Recreational Program, visit http://www.bond.edu.au/events/recreation/index.html
