UK: Financial support for Sheffield’s global students

When Sameeruddin Shaikh, from India, was choosing an MBA course in the UK, he was looking for support. “I short-listed Sheffield Hallam, because it offers a lot of facilities for its students,” he recalls.

The Sheffield Hallam University International Achievement Scholarship program is open to students from any non-EU country. Each scholarship is worth between £1,000 and £4,000, and is awarded to qualified students who show academic, personal or professional achievement in their application form.

Not everyone can, or wants to, study full-time. You may want to continue working, or fit study around your family responsibilities. Luckily, Westminster Business School (WBS) has a long tradition of offering part-time study that suits your life needs.

“We’ve been offering management-related courses in central London for around 80 years,” says the School’s Dean, Len Shackleton. “Almost 800 of our post-graduate students are part-time, and we offer thirteen programs on a part-time basis, from our MBA to specialist programs such as human resource management, marketing and finance.

Shorter skills-based programs are also available, such as the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Coaching and Mentoring, which runs over nine weekends. “More students want programs which involve day release, weekend delivery, or intensive blocks of teaching at times they can schedule around their work,” says Len.

UK: New scholarships available in London

As part of the British Council’s 60th anniversary celebrations, Regent’s College is offering six new scholarships for students from Hong Kong.

Regent’s College is the largest private college of higher education in the UK, and has two specialist business schools: the European Business School London and Regent’s Business School London.

Both are located in Regent’s Park in central London, and offer small classes and a personal, hands on tutorial approach. Over 100 different nationalities make up the 2000 students on campus, and there is a strong focus on developing language skills.

How will a computer science degree develop my career?
